Typically, rainy season means beautiful blue skies during the day, with humidity increasing throughout the day and clouds rolling in mid to late afternoon. The rain usually starts late afternoon/early evening and lasts for 2-4 hours. It’s not uncommon for the rain to be accompanied by incredible thunder and an impressive lightening show. Temperatures are usually in the 90° to 95° Fahrenheit range (32° Celsius) during the day and 80°F (27°C) at night.
Spring & Fall- April/May & Late-October/November
The spring days will become increasing warmer & more humid and the fall days will become increasing cooler & less humid. Some say that this is the best time of year to visit Puerto Vallarta.
Hurricanes & Tropical Storms
Puerto Vallarta is situated on the Bay of Banderas, surrounded by the Sierra Madre mountain range. The mountains protect Puerto Vallarta from being directly hit by thunderstorms or hurricanes. The typical weather pattern brings storms up the coast from the south. Once the storm hits the mountains, the storm breaks up or heads back to sea. Unless a storm comes directly from the west, it is unlikely that Puerto Vallarta will be drastically affected. We may just see some additional rain or cloud cover.
